Officer John Turner was killed in an
automobile accident while pursuing a vehicle through Stone Mountain.
Turner's patrol car went out of control on South Main Street and struck a
telephone pole. The driver of the vehicle he was chasing was never
identified.
Officer Turner had been with the
agency for six years and was survived by his wife. |
Communications Officer Mary Stone
was a veteran dispatcher from her small home town in Arkansas. She
came to Stone Mountain to dispatch in late 2002. Several months
later, Mary fell victim to complications of diabetes. Although she
only served a short time, she was well loved on the force because of her
personal attention and care for her fellow officers. |
