October 5, 2006 - DeKalb County's Debi Palmer honored for
service
Debi Palmer, a 29 year veteran of DeKalb
County Public Safety, was honored by the Police
Department and the
City Council for her service to the City and named an "Honorary Police Officer"
of Stone Mountain Police. When the Stone Mountain Police Department
decided to use DeKalb County's dispatch center, Debi was instrumental in making
the changeover nearly seamless. She has since continued to deal with
daily issues that pop up to ensure our officers stay safe. Pictured left

August 8, 2006 - Chief Troutman procures fans for local
residents
Thanks to the generosity of Main Street
Stone Mountain and Lowe's, Chief Chancey Troutman
was
able to procure a number of 20" box fans for distribution to elderly residents
in need. Recent high temperatures are dangerous for the elderly and
shut-ins. Chief Troutman and members of the Stone Mountain City Council
are currently identifying those in the most need and are distributing the fans
accordingly.
March 28, 2006 - Norrington receives Rotary Club Honor
The Rotary Club of Stone Mountain honored
Detective Manuel Norrington
with Public Service of
the Year for 2005-2006. Norrington has been a member of the police
department since August 2005. He has also served as Lithonia's Chief of
Police and a crime scene investigator with DeKalb County Police. The award
was presented by Bud Schooler, President of the Rotary Club of Stone Mountain
(pictured center). Schooler is flanked by Chief Chancey Troutman (left)
and Detective Norrington.

February 27, 2006 - Santiago and Benjamin share VFW Top Cop
honors
Officer Manuel Santiago III and Officer Lawton
Benjamin have been named "Police Officer of 2005" for their accomplishments in
productivity, dedication, and self discipline. The honors are presented by
Stone Mountain VFW Post 5257 and the Ladies Auxiliary. The presentation
ceremony is scheduled for March 11 at the VFW Lodge.
